About Us
Save El Monte Valley
is a community action organization that is fighting the route of the Sunrise Powerlink through El Monte Valley.
Our members come from across the county, and join together for this fight because we have a common realization that the stakes are very high, and that our community has too much to lose. There are a multiple reasons to fight this, including but not limited to the fact that it will desecrate a community landmark, destroy Lakeside’s last designated scenic corridor, leave us vulnerable to fire, kill our Golden Eagles, expose us to health hazards, and take away recreation options such as paragliding and skydiving off the Blossom Valley launch site. We join the fight for different reasons, but we all realize that this is a fight that is worth fighting, and that our efforts can have an enduring impact on this community forevermore. One hundred years from now, this valley will be better or worse because of our action, or inaction. It is us who determine its fate.
We are also here to fight for the fundamental right of a community to have a say in its land-use plan. We object to notification rules that appear designed to fail, and designed to manipulated.
This site is a place for sharing information and inspiration as we work together to preserve the character, beauty, and lifestyle long enjoyed in our valley by opposing the Sunrise Powerlink and proposing alternatives to meet the needs of all concerned.
